Did anyone else feel like last week dragged on?
A slow week calls for a new movie to watch and keeping up with the news.
Hello, friends! 👋🏼
I don’t know about you, but I feel like last week and the one before have been dragging on and I have succumbed to just being on autopilot and at the same time, I’m like trying to load to 100%. But what’s crazy is that even though I feel like these past few weeks have been dragging on, I’m also aware that this month is flying by.
Anyways…
Jumping into the second newsletter, so much happened last week. A few things from the news, pop culture, and much more!
🗞 this must be the news
Here are a few things that happened last week:
Tragic Hollywood Accident
Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was tragically killed last week from an accidental shooting that occurred on the set of the film Rust. With this latest sad news, there is now a call to ban real guns from sets.
Colombian Drug Lord Captured
Security forces in Colombia have captured drug lord Dairo Antonio Úsuga who had been on the run for more than a decade.
Children May Soon Be Able To Get Their COVID Vaccine
Children who are between the ages of 5 to 11 may soon be able to receive their COVID vaccination as early as next month.
🎵 this must be the music
With last week dragging on, I found myself in a bit of a funk and the only thing that got me out of it was listening to a bunch of late 90s and early 2000s pop playlists. If you love some good throwbacks, here’s a playlist you might enjoy!
Here’s something else! Coldplay performed at the grand opening of the all-new Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. The band performed some new music and some of their classic hits. Side note, I was right about their new song “People of The Pride” sounding amazing when performed live.
🎬 this must be the movie
Yep, you guessed it! Just like a bunch of other people last week, I got around to watching the highly-anticipated film Dune. Visually the movie was amazing but did I understand it? Not one bit. I feel like in order to understand the film I have to read the book but from what I’ve seen it might take me months to finish it.

🌸 this must be the part where I talk about pop culture
Some exciting news for any other fellow MCU fans out there…
The movie premiere for Eternals finally came around and so far those who got to go to the premiere and have seen the movie are giving it high praise. Now, here’s the thing… for those who did attend the premiere, a few people took to Twitter and shared their thoughts, err… spoilers!
Supposedly (but I guess confirmed? I don’t even know…), the post-credit scene in the Eternals features Thanos’ brother Eros who just so happens to be played by Harry Styles. Now, I love Harry’s music but when I found out that he was going to be in the MCU my face literally went 😄 to 🙄.
Half of me is like “Ok, yeah, that seems cool!” and the other half of me is like, “I don’t wike it!” If you caught my Chris Evans reference, you are the best! If you didn’t catch it, enjoy this great video my friends!
I guess I’m a bit apprehensive because the MCU is my safe haven and I feel like they could’ve gotten somebody else to play the part but who knows, maybe he might do well 🤷🏻♀️
🎓 this must be the academic life
If I’m being honest, sometimes I wonder why I decided to do grad school. If I’m not tired, I’m stressed. If I’m not stressed, I’m unusually calm.
I’m eight weeks (I think… I've lost track of time) into my MA journalism program and I am absolutely tired. But oddly enough, I’ll find moments where I’m enjoying completing assignments and rewrites.
✨ this must be the end of the newsletter
Thanks so much for taking the time in reading my newsletter! Keep an eye out for the next one and until then, have an amazing week!
